# Verzeta Verzeta is an open-source, local-first AI team workspace. A desktop host runs the models and tools, and lightweight wire clients pair in over a WebSocket (TLS for remote connections). ## Product model Verzeta Studio is the host. It runs the agents and tools on your machine, sends every model request (local or cloud), and holds all conversations, projects, and the activity log. Verzeta for Android and Verzeta for VS Code are wire clients: they show the same team and stream replies, but they never run models or talk to a provider directly. ## Surfaces - Verzeta Studio (host): desktop app for Linux (primary) and Windows. Runs the team. - Verzeta for Android (wire client): phone, tablet, desktop, and TV. Streams conversations and rooms. The device never runs models or tools. - Verzeta for VS Code (wire client): chat, editor actions, and a workspace mount so agents work on your real code. No model runs in the editor. ## How it runs - The app is the server. One install is the whole product: there is no separate server, relay, database service, Docker setup, hosted service or account. - Conversations, projects and the activity log are stored in a local SQLite database on the machine running Verzeta Studio. - Optional headless mode runs the same app without its window on an always-on machine (home server, NAS, cloud VM or spare laptop). The Android and VS Code clients pair with it the same way they pair with a desktop session. - Nothing leaves the machine unless the user chooses a cloud model provider or web search. ## Core capabilities - Multi-agent group chat with named @mention aliases and capped, inspectable cascades. - Per-member provider and model overrides. - Per-member tool whitelists. - Providers: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Ollama, llama.cpp over HTTP, local llama.cpp (run in a separate inference process), and any OpenAI-compatible server. - Project rooms with shared goals, documents, and inherited rosters. - Skills with user approval and scoping. - Polls for team decisions, canvas artifacts, file writes, and an activity timeline. - Workspace mounts in VS Code with ask, smart, or bypass write tiers. - Conversation memory with automatic compaction; nothing you see is deleted. - Pairing with a 6-digit code. TLS is optional; self-signed certificates are pinned by fingerprint, trusted certificates need no pinning. - Local-first storage, no telemetry, no accounts, no cloud sync. ## Safety - Agent shell commands run only programs on a user-editable allow-list, and a scanner refuses destructive patterns (recursive deletes, sudo, disk formatting, piping downloads into a shell) regardless of the list. - Commands that run code which cannot be checked first (text piped into a shell, eval of variable text) are refused. - Optional write protection on Linux (off by default): agent commands can only write inside the project folder, temporary folders and folders the user adds. It uses the kernel's Landlock module. - Skills must be reviewed and approved before agents can use them. ## Not included - No Verzeta cloud service or hosted version; Verzeta Studio runs on the user's own machines. - Prebuilt downloads are for Linux (AppImage) and Windows; macOS builds from source. - The Android and VS Code clients need a running Verzeta Studio host; they never run models themselves. ## Links - Website: https://verzeta.com - Source: https://github.com/Verzeta/Verzeta-Studio - Releases: https://github.com/Verzeta/Verzeta-Studio/releases - VS Code extension (Marketplace): https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=verzeta.verzeta - VS Code extension (Open VSX): https://open-vsx.org/extension/verzeta/verzeta - User docs: https://verzeta.com/docs/ - Full user documentation in one file: https://verzeta.com/llms-full.txt ## Search entry points - Studio host: https://verzeta.com/studio/ - Project rooms: https://verzeta.com/project-rooms/ - Wire clients: https://verzeta.com/wire-clients/ - VS Code client: https://verzeta.com/vscode/ - Android client: https://verzeta.com/android/ - Workspace mounts: https://verzeta.com/workspace-mounts/ - Provider routing: https://verzeta.com/provider-routing/ - Self-hosted servers: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/self-hosted-servers/ - Conversation memory: https://verzeta.com/conversation-memory/ - FAQ: https://verzeta.com/faq/ ## User guides ### Verzeta Studio - Introduction to Verzeta Studio: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/introduction/ - Quick start: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/quick-start/ - Providers: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/providers/ - Conversations: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/conversations/ - Multi-agent teams: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/multi-agent-teams/ - Projects: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/projects/ - Canvas and tasks: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/canvas-and-tasks/ - Skills: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/skills/ - Remote access and paired clients: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/remote-android/ - Activity timeline: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/activity-timeline/ - Troubleshooting: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/troubleshooting/ - Frequently asked questions: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/faq/ - Self-hosted OpenAI-compatible servers: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/self-hosted-servers/ - Conversation memory and compaction: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/conversation-memory/ - Running Verzeta Studio as a headless server: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/headless-server/ - Agent execution and permissions: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/agent-execution-and-permissions/ - Voice calls: https://verzeta.com/docs/studio/voice-calls/ ### Verzeta for Android - What is Verzeta for Android?: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/introduction/ - Install and pair: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/install-and-pair/ - Browse conversations: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/conversations/ - Chatting: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/chatting/ - Projects, Project Rooms and group chats: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/projects-and-rooms/ - Canvas: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/canvas/ - Tasks, plans and tool calls: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/tasks-and-tool-calls/ - Heartbeats (scheduled agent runs): https://verzeta.com/docs/android/heartbeats/ - Artifacts and generated media: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/artifacts-and-media/ - Host catalogs (Tools, MCP servers, Skills, Web Search): https://verzeta.com/docs/android/host-catalogs/ - Activity timeline (audit log): https://verzeta.com/docs/android/activity-timeline/ - Polls: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/polls/ - Settings: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/settings/ - Troubleshooting: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/troubleshooting/ - Frequently asked questions: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/faq/ - Privacy at a glance: https://verzeta.com/docs/android/privacy-summary/ ### Verzeta for VS Code - What is Verzeta for VS Code?: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/introduction/ - Install and pair: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/install-and-pair/ - Conversations: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/conversations/ - Chatting: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/chatting/ - Projects, folders, and group chats: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/projects-and-rooms/ - Editor integration: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/editor-integration/ - Workspace mounts: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/workspace-mount/ - Canvas and artifacts: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/canvas-and-artifacts/ - Settings: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/settings/ - Troubleshooting: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/troubleshooting/ - Frequently asked questions: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/faq/ - Privacy at a glance: https://verzeta.com/docs/vscode/privacy-summary/ Generated: 2026-09-28T15:19:43.355Z
